The Ear Biscuits Podcast is different from most others, in that it varies drastically from one episode to another. Every episode of the podcast is themed around one central topic, and those topics go from being lighthearted and goofy, to deep and philosophical. This podcast was created and run by YouTube duo Rhett and Link, most widely known for the morning show “Good Mythical Morning.” The two of them have been on the internet for over a decade, and show no sign of stopping. 

Ear Biscuits is a great experience. It is released on all platforms with podcasts, and then a week later in video form on the Ear Biscuits YouTube channel. In every episode, Rhett and Link, who are lifelong best friends, sit down at what they call “the round table of dim lighting,” and talk about life, typically surrounding a specific subject. They have some very silly episodes, like “Are We Weird?” and “Our 2020 Amazon Purchases,” but they also have very serious episodes, like “Is It Ever Okay to Kill Someone?” and “Thoughts on Confederate Statues.” This show varies so heavily, possibly more than any other Podcast I have listened to.

And with this variation can come problems. The show can start to lose an identity. It can become messy and out of touch. Ear Biscuits is a very unique podcast, but uniqueness cannot be the only thing going for a show. It has to be enthralling, which it often is, but when it is not, the show seems to truly drag on. There are consistent themes aesthetically within this podcast, but the topics have no consistency. The show is very nice for longtime Rhett and Link fans that simply enjoy listening to these two men talk and joke, but for someone with no connection to this duo, the show likely will not have much to offer them.
