Managing Stress

Some helpful tips for relieving stress

Managing+Stress

Stress is something that everyone has experienced in their life. Whether it comes from school, home, social situations, and/or events happening in the world, it is not pleasant. With everything going on at the moment, it is now more important than ever to learn the skills needed to manage stress.

Creating Something

Creating something. Whether it is drawing, writing, or coloring, creating something is great for relieving stress. When doing activities like this, it is easy to get caught up in it and not think of the stressful event. Coloring especially has been found to have a meditative effect as well.

Working out. Going outside and getting some much-needed fresh air is important enough, but working out while doing so has plenty of benefits for relieving stress. For example, exercising can end up improving the quality of a person’s sleep. Exercise can also lower the body’s stress hormones and release endorphins which improves a person’s mood. It should be noted that those who exercise more regularly are more likely to receive these benefits as compared to those who do not exercise as much.

Venting

Venting. Expressing one’s feelings to a trusted confidant is another thing that helps relieve stress. Whether it is done verbally or even texted, it can be very beneficial. An alternative to this would be expressing the negative feelings through journaling. No matter how it is done, venting out stress is a good way to lessen it.

Understanding limits. It is important for everyone to understand what they are and are not capable of handling and accept commitments accordingly. Pushing limits can at times reap benefits, but going too far will only worsen stress. Knowing when to say “no” is an important aspect of this.

Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy can be done in a variety of ways. There is a large variety of body products, diffusers, and candles available to use. Certain scents have been found to decrease the overall stress hormones present in the body. Some of the more soothing scents are sandalwood, rose, orange, and lavender.

Drinking Green Tea

Drinking green tea. Among all of the various benefits of green tea, stress relief is one of them. The amino acid known as theanine that is found in green tea leaves is great for relaxation and the reduction of stress. Plus, it is always nice to have a cup of tea anyway.

Stress is an often occurrence, especially in students; however, it has a negative effect on the mind and body. Because of this, it is important for people to know and practice stress management techniques in order to reduce their overall stress levels.
