Mad Hatters Bakery: Super Simple Angel Food Cake With Strawberry Sauce

Sometimes, we crave something sweet that may take a while to make. Whether we don’t have the right ingredients, pans, time, or even the motivation to bake something, everyone should have that one recipe that hits the spot and is fairly easy to follow. Angel Food cake has always been the popular choice in my family. My grandmother would always make me her famous homemade angel food cake for my birthday with home whipped icing and candied letters saying “Happy Birthday”. She passed away a year ago on February 7th, 2020. While she is no longer with us, we can still enjoy the little things that remind us of the fantastic memories we have with her. One of those memories would be the angel food cake! I will be writing a different recipe before Easter and will share her angel food “easter” cake the week of Easter. For now, I will show you how to make the “lazy” or “easy” version of the cake with fresh strawberry sauce as a delicious topping. This cake is especially yummy during the summertime at cookouts by the campfire!

The recipe calls for:

1 box angel food cake mix OR 1 store-bought (already baked) angel food cake

2 pounds of fresh strawberries

⅔ cup sugar (This will depend on the ripeness of the strawberries!)

Cool Whip (optional)
