Nick Dawson, a freshman at Lee’s Summit High School, and has been playing football ever since he was in first grade. He has now made it onto the football team here and is enjoying it.
“The reason I started playing is that I like to watch football so since I like watching it, I wanted to try it out and then I always liked it since,” Dawson said.
A college scholarship is something that a lot of players look forward to getting in their high school careers. For some like Dawson, sometimes a scholarship is what keeps a player going.
“The main thing that keeps me from quitting is getting a scholarship. I would like to not pay for my college.” Dawson said. “I see myself playing football until I really can’t anymore. Until I’m too unathletic to keep playing.”
College is a huge thing in a lot of people’s futures. A college that Dawson would like to attend is Mizzou. Mizzou is a pretty big college in Missouri. There are also a lot of different specialties someone can study.
“At Mizzou, I would like to study something in sports because I love watching sports. It’s what I like the most.” Dawson said.
Dawson has also played soccer in his past. He had played for around four years before he quit due to soccer tryouts happening while he was on vacation.
“They got their whole team in one day and then I wasn’t able to go to soccer tryouts, so I just quit,” Dawson said.
Cooking is something not a lot of people know how to do, but Dawson learned from a young age how to cook from his dad. He first learned how to cook breakfast food and from there he learned how to cook more.
“I’d get hungry then I’d ask my parents to cook me something but they couldn’t, so I thought that I might as well learn how to cook for myself,” Dawson said.
