Being positive is not always easy, but sophomore Melissa Herzog, freshman Mydia Childs, freshman Brooke Bellamy and sophomore Holly Parker have some helpful tips on how to stay positive during times of stress.
“I think taking a break when you need it helps to stay positive and keep a healthy mindset.” Parker said.
Bellamy has similar advice.
“I mean sometimes you just gotta wallow in it for a minute, but know that tomorrow will be different.” Bellamy said.
Now staying positive during times of stress is not always easy, so it is good to surround yourself with people who love you.
“I just know that there’s people there for me, I have good friends and I’m close with my mom so there’s always someone there if I am stressed.” Bellamy said.
But, you might not have many people in your life so instead do the things you enjoy to decrease stress.
“I find doing stuff that I love like art.” Herzog said.
Starting to live more positively does not mean making drastic changes, it can also mean just doing little things.
“I would say try to wear your favorite style of clothing because personally when I wear bummy or comfy clothing I feel tired, also if you have a class you don’t like, try to push through till the end of the hour because then you have your favorite class or it’s the end of the day.” Childs said.
Sometimes it is easy to forget to give yourself time and you need to remember that your needs are just as important as your priorities.
“Do stuff you love.” Herzog said.
Positivity will not just affect you it will affect those around you too.
”I think that it affects others in a good way. There are some people who get bothered by positivity because they are themselves pessimistic, but I think that there’s no possible way that I could ever impact badly as long as you have good intentions” Parker said.
Its effects on you are more important though.
“I think being positive affects me because if I’m negative all the time, I will not want to do things I like or be tired all the time, so being positive gives me that boost,” Childs said.
Childs is naturally very positive, but she still works on keeping a naturally positive outlook.
“I think it comes naturally because if I have one negative day, it will not be as bad because I’ll tell myself that tomorrow will be better.” Childs said.
Unlike Childs, Parker is not naturally positive, but because she works on it her mindset is positive.
“It’s definitely something I taught myself because you have to be positive, if you’re always pessimistic you’re never gonna be able to look at good things in life.” Parker said.
Having a positive outlook does not mean never feeling angry
“Sometimes you just wanna punch someone you know?” Bellamy said.
Here is Herzog’s take on the point of the article,
“If you’re positive, you’re not stupid.” Herzog said
