When playing a team like the Buccaneers you always go in feeling like it is going to be a hard game, but this week it was not. The Chiefs ran away with the score quickly and the Buccaneers never brought the score back.

Chiefs Offensive Notes

The Chiefs were dominant against a great Buccaneers defense. The Tampa Bay team has held their last three opponents to just 27 points. The Chiefs scored 28 by the end of the first half. The Chiefs just steamrolled the Buccaneers because of a masterpiece of a game by Patrick Mahomes. By just the numbers for Mahomes, the game does not look very significant, but the plays he was making were just crazy to watch. There were multiple times when the Chiefs were about to go to a 4th down situation, but Mahomes somehow made a play out of nothing. The Chiefs were just making plays all night and after putting up 28 points in the first half it is hard to lose a game when up by that much. We also saw a great performance out of the offensive line, which we have not seen in a while. We need more nights like this out of the O-line because if we do not it might start to hurt us a ton. We also saw a lot more rushing attempts for both Clyde Edwards Helaire and Pacheco which is something I love to see. Helaire is the third year back out of LSU and he has shown tons of flashes but was not getting a ton of attempts. He had 19 carries to total 92 yards which comes to 4.8 yards per carry. A very impressive showing. If the offense plays like this every week the Chiefs cannot be stopped. They just kept pushing and never took their feet off the gas.

Chiefs Defensive Notes

We saw a somewhat poor game by the defense. We had only one sack from a corner, and we did not see a big tackle game from Nick Bolton and that usually does not happen. Chris Jones was also shut down against the Buccaneers and it seemed he did not get much pressure at all. What we did see though was a solid game by L’Jarius Sneed and Jaylen Watson from both corners. They were playing excellent coverage and Sneed also led the Chiefs’ defense in tackles. One of the better Chiefs D-linemen was George Karlaftis the stud rookie out of Purdue. Karlaftis seemed to be the only D-linemen getting any pressure against the Buc’s O-line. Karlaftis has been a very exciting player for the Chiefs because the Chiefs have needed another good D-linemen next to Jones and Karlaftis and he looks to be that. There was not much to say about this game, but we need to see more D-line pressure and need to see more out of our linebackers.

The Chiefs steamrolled a great team in the Buccaneers. We saw the Chiefs’ offense destroy a very good Buccanneers’ defense, but on the other hand, we saw the Chiefs’ defense give up 31 points to a team that in their other three bouts only put up 20+ points once. Basically what I am saying is the Chiefs’ O-line needs to do this again and the Chiefs’ D-Line needs to improve a lot.
