Chiefs Weekly: The Number One Offense?

Senior Matthew Marszalek in the Library Media Center celebrating the Chiefs’ victory.

Nick Dawson

The Chiefs were just to dominate. The game was close for the first few drives because of the muffed punt by Sky Moore, but after that, it was never even close.

Chiefs Offensive Notes

The Chiefs were just better. This game was never close with the dominant performance by both sides of the Chiefs. The Chiefs seemed to have no weak spot against a top-five defense in the NFL. We saw two Chiefs receivers get 100+ yards and Travis Kelce getting just two yards under that. The Chiefs’ O-line even stepped up against a very good D-line and only gave up one sack. To be honest the worst player on the field today was Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes threw one interception but with the way, he was playing that should have been more. Mahomes has been a top QB in the league for a while now, but he still puts the ball at risk way too much. He needs to fix this problem because when facing the best of the best defense Mahomes could have come out with three-plus turnovers. A little bit before the game started we saw Isiah Pacheco be given the start over Clyde Edwards-Helaire. This is a big addition to this offense. I believe Pacheco will be a star in the NFL and this is just a small step into seeing what Pacheco has to offer for this amazing offense.

Notable Offensive Players

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster (7 REC – 124 YDS – 1 TD)
  • Travis Kelce (6 REC – 98 YDS)
  • Patrick Mahomes (25/35 ATT – 423 YDS – 3 TD – 1 INT)
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling/MVS (3 REC – 111 YDS)

Chiefs Defensive Notes

The Chiefs’ defense has been on a roll. This is another game where the Chiefs D has played very well against a very good offense. The most impressive thing we saw though was the Chiefs’ D-line. We saw everyone getting to the QB. Frank Clark someone who I’ve been very hard on in the past had a very good game. Also, Chris Jones was getting to the QB a ton and got two sacks. The Chiefs’ defense also generated three turnovers. It was a great showing by the new and improved defense. If the Chiefs’ D-line keeps putting up solid sack games like this and getting multiple turnovers it is gonna be hard to beat both this offense and defense.

Notable Defensive Players

  • Chris Jones (2 Sacks – 1 FF)
  • Joshua Williams (1 INT)
  • Frank Clark (1.5 Sacks)
  • Juan Thornhill (11 TCK – 1 INT)
  • Nick Bolton (9 TCK)

The Chiefs put up 44 points and held the 49ers to just 23. If every week is like this the Chiefs’ cannot and will not be stopped. The Chiefs have a bye this week, so it is going to be a good time for everyone to rest up and be ready for the Titans on November 7th.
