What a disappointing game to watch. The Chiefs beat themselves against the Bengals. With flags at the start of the game, to the missed catches down the stretch.

Chiefs Offensive Notes

Patrick Mahomes was the only reason the Chiefs were in this game. Mahomes was trying to make plays with his legs but with how bad the offensive line played it was really hard for Mahomes to really do anything. What really hurt though was to watch Travis Kelce get shut down all game, and when he finally makes a big play he fumbles which completely changed the momentum of the game. In the offseason the Chiefs gave Marquez Valdes-Scantling a three year 30 million dollar deal, and he has looked atrocious all season long. Valdes-Scantling does not do anything well and dropping passes is a real problem for him. Do not even get me started on the offensive line. Patrick Mahomes was being pressured the whole game and early in the game we got a crucial three and deep. Unfortunately the O-line made a bonehead decision and got an illegal man downfield flag. The only bright spots were the ruling backs. Pacheco and McKinnon looked great each having over 50 yards and touchdowns. At the end of the day Mahomes, Pacheco, and McKinnon were the only players on the offense to put in a good game against the Bengals.

Notable Offensive Players

  • Isiah Pacheco (14 CAR – 66 YDS – 1 TD)
  • Jerick McKinnon (8 CAR – 51 YDS – 1 TD)

Chiefs Defensive Notes

This is one of the first games where I thought the Chiefs’ defense looked bad. The pass rush looked non-existent with the Chiefs’ D-line only getting one sack coming from rookie George Karlaftis. The referees were also no help with a lot of ticky-tack calls that really set us back at the start of the game. The center backs played very poorly and also with Spagnuolo calling a very bad game it did not set up the defense for success. The only bright spot was again being Nick Bolton and Willie Gay Jr. Bolton had 16 tackles and he was really flying around the field. Willie Gay Jr. also was looking really fast batting down passes. The defense was just bad and with no pressure from the D-line the elite offenses are gonna cook defense.

Notable Defensive Players

  • Nick Bolton (16 TCKS)

That was a disappointing game from both sides of the ball. The Chiefs also have officially lost the spot for the number one seed. The Chiefs really need to play amazing against the Broncos next week.
