Its that time of year again, the bittersweet feeling of the year coming to an end. The sun is beginning to shine early in the morning, cold weather coming to an end, but that’s not the only thing changing. The closer we close in on summer, the closer our seniors are to the next phase of life.

“Im kind of sad that I’m leaving behind some good people, but i hope they can blossom into their own people, but Im also excited I have my own path to go down that I have set up. I hope that becomes something that works for me.” Senior, Lukas Gillette said.

Taking that next step can be as terrifying as it is important for setting up the rest of your life. Sometimes while taking that next step you leave behind the underclassmen you’ve gotten close with.

“A majority of my friends are underclassmen unfortunately. Its one of those things, I knew starting senior year that i would be leaving them. Though it does suck, i know that ill keep in contact with them. It wont end once i leave high school.” Senior Nasiha Az-Zubair said.

It’s not just underclassmen seniors are going to miss. Teachers have made an everlasting impact on this year’s graduating class.

“Im definitely going to miss a bunch of teachers, Madam Hayles, the french teacher. She helped me with my transition to Lee’s Summit after coming back from Japan, also my advisor, Mr. Nielsen. He has always been so supportive of everyones goals and dreams, he was the one who got me in DECA. Senior Kalista Siegel said.

The end to all ends comes on May 17th 2024, Graduation day. How it feels for this four year long journey finally comes to a screeching halt, to finally close this door and move on to bigger better things.

“I think 100%, I’m going to cry. I honestly love high school, it has it’s ups and downs, but at the end of the day its the place I have been coming to for the last four years and I’m so used to it. I think I’ll be really sad and cry at graduation.” Senior Micah Mitchell said.
