Lee’s Summit High School students discuss their perfect night and excitement about Prom 2026.
“I am very interested in going to prom. I think it will be a very good experience. I am a junior, and it will be my first year being able to go,” junior Kali Barnes said.
Barnes gives her insight into what prom this year for her will look like.
“Prom’s an exciting experience that upper classmen get to have where they get to dress up. Whereas for homecoming, you just get to dress up with your friends and take pictures and go to the dance and do a bunch of fun stuff. But not everybody gets to go,” Barnes said.
This year’s juniors are excited to go to the dance, dress up, and take photos this time with the other upperclassmen. Prom will also be in a new location this year.
“I’ll probably stay for an hour or so to dance. I think the location of prom is actually really fun because it’s on Green Street and it’s really new to Lee’s Summit. So I feel like being able to have it somewhere new will be fun for everyone,” Barnes said.
A new location gives opportunities for the students going to prom this year to show up and spend time with friends and classmates.
“My ideal day is getting ready with my friends, and then being able to go take a bunch of cute pictures, then making an Instagram post and going to dinner and hanging out with all my friends after prom,” Barnes said.
Throughout the year, juniors and seniors pick dresses and suits to decide their style of choice.
“I think a majority of the juniors will go because it’s their first year. I feel not a lot of the seniors will go, but I think a lot of people will be there,” Barnes said.
The majority seems to be excited for prom.
“I’m very excited for prom. I’m excited to dress up and have a fun day with all my friends. That’s not like everything else or every other day things that we do,” Barnes said.
Prom has students waiting to dress up and get ready with friends for an exciting day.
“Prom is a good experience with my friends. I think it’s gonna be a fun time. I feel like it’s an important part of a high school, and a special high school moment,” junior Alex Wasserkrug said.
Juniors are excited to dress up and show off their fancy attire at prom.
“I’m interested in going to prom because I get to dress up. Prom means you’re gonna hang out with friends and do something you don’t really do often,” junior Madison Whistance said.
