Courtwarming is a wintertime high school tradition. Before this year, Courtwarming has changed year to year. Last year, it was a Valentine’s Day dance but was canceled because of a lack of tickets purchased. The year before, it was a Winter Formal. This year, the dance was preceded by the girls and boys varsity basketball games on January 30. After the games there was a dance with refreshments and food, games, and prizes. Courtwarming is an event to spend time with friends and enjoy the moment with them.
“It’s a good way to just have a lot of fun. And although it costs money, it’s like when you go to a place and you go there to have fun, like main event or something, but instead, you’re surrounded by people you know, and you can have fun a different way with crowds of people and music and you don’t get those experiences when you’re young, because that’s mostly for the nightlife of adults,” freshman Eva Eglich said.

Though Courtwarming’s attendance is lower than prom and homecoming, there are ways to encourage people to go and show their school spirit.
“I think having more people talk about it, like advisors mentioning it and bringing it up, just to get discussions started about it,” junior Matthew Krause said.
Courtwarming includes royalty that the students vote on.
“I honestly just thought it would be something fun to try. I’m not a very social person, but this year, I’ve kind of accumulated to be more of one, and so I thought this would be a good way to kind of keep going forward with that,” Eglich said.
This event is not a formal event, but it’s a great occasion to look nice.
“Green dress and black shoes,” sophomore Mira Bryant plans on dressing up.
