“A lot of people will post at-home workouts on Youtube and I took advantage of these five-minute clips,” Zack Walker.

COVID-19 has really done a number in terms of keeping the student body inside and inactive for so long, so here are some ways students can remain active while indoors. Senior Zach Walker is one of these students who took advantage of at-home workouts over quarantine. One of the main ways students can remain active is by doing chores around the house if a home gym or regular gym is not available.

“A lot of people will post at-home workouts on Youtube and I took advantage of these five-minute clips,” Walker said.

Luckily, there are YouTubers online that have posted workouts that are available to do from home to prevent any and all COVID-19 exposure. There are tutorials for running and cardio, chest and back exercises, even ab and leg exercises, there is a video for everything.

“I’ve always enjoyed at-home workouts for their simplicity and I love to learn and try new things,” Walker said.

Fortunately, gyms are starting to reopen, which many students at Lee’s Summit High School are taking advantage of. The only problem is that the hours of most gyms have changed from 24/7 to 12/7, so needless to say the availability of gym workouts to most working adults and kids going to school is slim at this point.

“This quarantine has mainly been a focal point on trying to maintain their physical and mental fitness and trying to stay sane while we were trapped inside,” Walker said.

Quarantine was and always will be seen as a negative mental experience because being trapped inside and not being able to see any loved ones is all that is thought about during this experience. However, what is promised is that at-home workouts could definitely raise spirits exponentially than just sitting at home moping.
