Chiefs Weekly: Patrick Is The G.O.A.T.

Nick Dawson

Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the NFL. Even when Mahomes had a bad ankle he still was leading the Chiefs’ and in the end, got us the win!

Chiefs Offensive Notes

As I said in the intro Patrick Mahomes is the G.O.A.T., but the whole offense was rolling against the Jaguars this Saturday. When Mahomes went down with the injury and Chad Henne had to step in, the offense was still looking very productive. We saw Pacheco have a really effective game having 95 yards on just 12 carries. Also having Travis Kelce is a cheat code. Kelce is just always open and is easily the best TE in the NFL. Kelce ended up having 14 catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns which is just absurd.  Even the Chiefs’ O-line had a very strong game keeping Chad Henne and Patrick Mahomes very protected. With all that said the Chiefs need to score more. Only putting up 27 points against a mid to below-average defense just will not be enough against the elite teams. I love Andy Reid, but when is he gonna realize that we need to get Pacheco the ball more? He averaged 4.9 yards per attempt which is crazy efficiency, and Andy still only gives him around 10 to 12 attempts per game. I wish Pacheco would be getting more around 15 to 20 a game but that is really the only criticism I would have for Andy for his game against the Jags.

Notable Offensive Players

  • Isiah Pacheco (12 CAR – 95 YDS – 7.9 AVG)
  • Patrick Mahomes (22/30 – 195 YDS – 2 TD)
  • Travis Kelce (14 REC – 98 YDS – 2 TD)

Chiefs Defensive Notes

The Chiefs defensively looked very good against the Jags. The D-line was reaching the quarterback and pressuring him constantly. In addition, the secondary had a great game, especially L’Jarius Sneed who is really shining and looking like a top-10 center back in the NFL. Nick Bolton and Willie Gay Jr. are such a great duo together and are both very good young players. The Chiefs kept the Jags to just 20 points, but playing the Bengals next week is going to be way harder than this Jaguars’ offense. What I am most worried about is the Bengals’ Wide receivers versus our defensive backs. The Bengals have Tee Higgins and Jamarr Chase who is such a deadly duo versus our very young defensive backs L’Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie. With the Chiefs being 0-3 against the Bengals in the last 2 years, if the defense can come out and set the tone it could give the Chiefs a big chance to end that streak.

Notable Defensive Players

  • Jaylen Watson (1 INT)
  • Frank Clark (1 Sack)
  • Derrick Nnadi (1 Sack)
  • Chris Jones
  • Khalen Saunders

The Chiefs have made their 5th consecutive AFC Championship Game. This Chiefs team is looking to be one of the best dynasties of all time, but they are playing their kryptonite, the Bengals. The Bengals have beaten the Chiefs three times in the last two years. If the Chiefs lose to the Bengals for the 4th time it will look really bad for Mahomes and the Chiefs. For the first time though I am very confident in this Chiefs team to beat the Bengals and for the Chiefs to make the Super Bowl again.
