LSHS has plenty of clubs to express yourself, so why not add one more to the mix?
We should have a fashion club at LSHS. I say this because there are a lot of people at this school who love to express themselves through fashion. A few of whom you might know.
“I think that mainly because a lot of fashion styles, especially when you start getting into alternative styles, are based on music taste, and based on politics. So I think it would help to have a basis of also including music, because fashion is more than just clothes. It’s how it is, your personal style as well,” junior Laila Johnston said.

Lalia and I think alike on this, and I think that if we had a fashion club, we should include anything involving self-awareness because fashion is about so much more than just the clothes you wear; it’s who you are, what you believe in, and the things you do. Being yourself when it comes to fashion means you are you, not someone who copies another’s outfit piece for piece. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t take inspiration. I think everyone has to start somewhere. I started with taking heavy inspiration from my friend, but now I have strayed far from her style.
“In the past year and a half, I’ve actually been dressing how I want to, and I’m trying to not copy off of anyone, actually doing my own thing. It’s very scary to change that mindset, though, of trying to have an idol, of picturing what to be. I don’t need to picture anything. I can choose what I want to do, that isn’t talked about enough by teachers or just people who are demonstrators. I feel, if it were more expressed, that it’s a safe environment and not just saying it, but, actually, because actions speak louder than words,” senior Atticus Rutledge said.
I think the club would help people who are scared to get into fashion be able to find how they want to dress or how far they want to take their fashion, and I think the club could really thrive if we had one. I propose that Mr. Leech should be a sponsor because he is very outgoing and knows a thing or two about fashion himself.
