Every first Friday of the month, Ms. Hall, the culinary teacher, and some of her students get together to make cookies to sell for “Cookie Friday”. “Cookie Friday” is enjoyed by both the bakers and consumers.
“The students obviously love eating them, but the students who help make them are also learning to do large productions,” Hall said.
The type of cookie Hall and her students mainly bake is chocolate chip.
“They smell good and they look good. From what my friend says, they taste really good and we don’t go broke buying them,” sophomore Sky Watson said.
The cookies are affordable for high school students, as they are priced at one to two dollars, depending on the cookie. Most students learn about “Cookie Friday” by walking by the culinary room.
“We were just walking one day, and we saw cookies-like a sign of cookies-and we were like, ‘Oh my gosh, I know I need some.’ When we saw that, it was on Friday, and we got really excited. Every Friday, we’ll make sure to remind her to bring her money to buy her a cookie,” Watson said.
Unfortunately, not every student knows about “Cookie Friday” as it is less accessible to some students, depending on where their classes are. Sophomore Falon Ferance has some ideas on how to counteract this.
“It’s only on one side of the building, so have it in other classes too and maybe have a stand on each side of the school,” Ferance said.
In addition, Watson also has an idea to improve “Cookie Friday”, she suggests they add more flavors of cookies besides just chocolate chip.
“One thing, I wish they had birthday cake,” Watson said.
Many students seem to love “Cookie Friday,” some even say it is similar to Crumbl Cookie.
“I’m gonna compare it to a Crumbl cookie cause I just know Crumbl cookies are good, and those cookies seem good, so good,” Watson said.
“Cookie Friday” started in the fall of 2024, and has already won the hearts of many students.
